Getting Started

WordPress Installation

This theme has been developed only for WordPress 4.0 or higher versions. So, you need to install WP before you can use this theme. Here you can find WOrdPress installation process: Wordpress Codex - Installing Wordpress.

WordPress Theme Installation

WordPress theme is simply a group of files, called template, bundled together that, when activated in CMS, determine the look and basic functions of your site. By using professional Themeum Backnow theme, you can have your site up and running with a new design – pretty fast. Theme installation is a very easy process. Especially when you’ve chosen the theme you want to use, you’ll need to install it into your WordPress website. You’ll have the following two choices, as you did when adding new plugins:

  • You can add the theme directly from within the WP Admin, using “Upload Theme” option. From Admin Panel go the following path Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme and select the appropriate zipped theme file, then click Install Now.
  • If your server is not set up properly or you have any problem, you’ll have to extract and then upload the theme by hand. Using your favorite FTP client tool upload theme folder into the folder path /wp-content/themes/ on your server and activate it from admin panel.

Note: On your WordPress site, the wp-content/themes folder holds all your themes. Each theme you install gets its own subfolder. All of a theme’s stylesheets and template files reside inside the theme’s folder.

If this tool is not installed on your site, you have to install "WordPress Importer" plugin manually.

One Click Demo Content:

If you want to get exactly the same page layout as you see on the Backnow demo site, you may import the demo contents on your site. Remember, demo contents are not authorized for live websites. Demo contents are only for experimental purpose. But you can just use the demo layout by editing the texts, images and others. To use the one-click demo importer, go to the Dashboard and Click on the One click Demo import button at the bottom. Import one of the available demo items shown there.

It's an important part of Backnow theme Installation process. Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Menu, then click on Manage Location and select Main Menu for the Main Menu Location, and Top Menu for Top Menu location (if you've already created the menus). If you haven't created any menu yet, you need to create now. See the screenshot below.

Set Static Home Page (Required)

WordPress shows the latest blog posts by default on the front page. If you want to make it look like the demo Backnow site, then you need to set a static Home Page. Below see the way how to set the Static Home Page. Navigate Dashboard > Settings > Reading. From here, select a static page for the Front page select Home. You can follow below screenshot.

Make sure to configure permalinks. By default, WordPress uses web URLs which have question marks and lots of numbers in them; however, WordPress offers you the ability to create a custom URL structure for your permalinks and archives. This can improve the aesthetics, usability, and forward-compatibility of your links. From WP admin panel, go to the following path: Settings > Permalinks then select "Post name".

Widgets Settings Import

Import Widget Settings Data: If you want to use the demo site widget settings on your website, we recommend to install and activate the following plugin "Widget Importer & Exporter". Which gives you the ability to import the demo widget settings, saved as a .wie file type. Choose Tools > Widget Importer & Exporter then select demo-widgets.wie file from Demo Widget Settings folder directly from the demo content folder.
